The two products serve different priorities. The Leveling Platform sits low, creates a flat sleeping surface close to the cargo floor, and is designed to stay in full-time with seats up or down. Under-platform clearance is about 2", enough for flat, low-profile items only. The BamBed Sleep Platform sits higher, offers 9.2" of cargo clearance underneath for meaningful storage. If a flat, comfortable sleeping surface and full-time usability are your priorities, the Leveling Platform is the right call. If under-platform storage matters more, go with the Sleep Platform.

It fits 2010–2024 Toyota 4Runners. Two firm exceptions: it is not compatible with the 3rd row seating option, and it is not compatible with the sliding cargo tray option. If your 4Runner has either of these, reach out before ordering.

The integrated handles on the platform align with the factory D-ring tie-down points in the 4Runner cargo area. This gives you a secure way to strap down cargo loaded on top of the platform, such as gear, a cooler, equipment, and also helps keep the platform itself stable on rough terrain. It's a genuinely useful feature that most leveling platforms don't have.

Yes, that's one of the design goals. The platform works with rear seats in any position, so it doesn't interfere with passengers and doesn't need to come out every time you use the back seat.

About 2" of clearance, enough for flat, low-profile items like tow straps, a first aid kit, cooking utensils, or maps. It's not designed as a storage drawer replacement, just a useful bit of space for flat gear that would otherwise float around the cargo area.

Both are strong, quality materials. Bamboo is architectural-grade, super stiff, eco-friendly, and finished with mineral oil for a rich color. Birch is durable, warp-resistant plywood that's the better choice if you plan to customize, paint, or modify the boards. Either works well as a platform, it mostly comes down to personal preference and aesthetics.

Built for tough conditions and rugged use, but not fully waterproof. For heavy wet exposure, fishing, surf gear, extended rain without a shell, BamBed recommends coating the boards with a water-based polyurethane sealant. For bamboo boards, mineral oil is used in the initial finish and can be reapplied to restore the look if it fades.
